Mass Appeal’s latest documentary “De La Soul Is NOT Dead” starts off at the beginning of it all when Dave, Posdnuos, DJ Maseo, and producer Prince Paul first met in high school. After we become acquainted with their roots at Amityville Memorial high School in Long Island, NY, the group describes their come-up before and after Prince Paul parted ways with the trio. They also reflect on the 25-year anniversary of their sophomore album De La Soul Is Dead and twenty years of Stakes Is High, which is their first album without Prince Paul.
