
Yasiin Bey, who now goes by Dec 99th, continues to prove that he may never officially leave hip-hop behind. Months after his short-lived retirement, the veteran MC formally known as Mos Def is reportedly working out of DPlanet Studios in Cape Town, South Africa where he recorded his new single “Local Time.”
“The local time is now/Whoever who you are, no matter no how,” Dec raps on the hook.

After Dec’s introductory whistling strikes the eardrums, the unique beat, produced by Ferrari Sheppard, drops with a hard-hitting, yet mellow bass line coupled with a dope snare pattern. “Local Time” serves as the follow-up to “N.A.W.”, which was the first track released under Yasiin’s new moniker.
