Sean “Diddy” Combs announced that he has officially inked a major distribution deal with Time Warner Cable for his new music channel, Revolt TV.
Revolt will be the “first channel of the social media age,” according to the Bad Boy CEO. Already garnering a buzz on Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr, the new outlet, already boasting original music programming, live content and a unique social media presence, will mark one of the biggest launches in cable TV history.
“This is a landmark distribution deal that demonstrates Time Warner Cable’s commitment to bringing a platform for music artists and fans to their subscribers,” Combs says in a statement. “It positions Revolt to come out of the gate strong, and we look forward to igniting the passion of initial audiences across the U.S.”
Joining Revolt TV as Diddy’s right-hand man will be mentor and Vice Chairman of Combs Enterprises Andre Harrell. “I have always believed who ever controlled the music, controlled the soul of the generation,” Harrell says. “I am happy to see heading up this music channel is Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs. And I know he was raised right and future generations now have a place to go and get the latest news information about their favorite music stars. Revolt TV is a place where young people’s voice and creativity will be treated with respect and journalistic integrity.”
As the owner of a record label, vodka brand and clothing line, Diddy celebrates yet another historic moment in hip-hop and pop culture.
“This network has a commitment to the artists, and a commitment to the fans,” he says.
