We knew Jay Z’s “Tom Ford” was primed and ready for a slew of trap remixes. But to hear Hova get the techno treatment is a quantum leap into uncharted territories. If you haven’t encountered new DJ on the circuit making festival heads nod from coast to coast, it’s time to pop your Modus cherry. The LA based producer has in a few short months spun the Discovery Project stages at both EDC New York and Las Vegas, performed an exuberant tribal techno set at Splash House, released his debut self-titled EP on Prep School recordings and was selected to close for DJ Snake’s first LA appearance, at Avalon nightclub on Friday (September 13).
Modus sets himself apart from the lackluster rest with his hip-hop-techno inspired remixes. His remix of Jay Z’s “Tom Ford” on ‘Nobody Listens To Techno,’ one of the only underground house music radio shows on FM Radio, hosted by Kristelle Laroche on KX 93.5. The remix, is a progressive tune with chopped vocals, groovy drum work, delicate synths and snappy bass lines. Listen and download it for free below.
