Dr. Dre is an honorary Trojan after donating $70 million to the SoCal campus for his Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts. Along with keeping track of his new department on campus come other responsibilities with being an honorary Trojan, like speaking at graduation and football games. Before the school’s big game on Saturday (Nov. 16) against the No. 5 ranked Stanford Cardinals, Dr. Dre made a surprise visit to the team and gave the Trojans a pep talk.
He was introduced to the team by USC president C. L. Max Nikias as “someone who grew up not too far away.” “He’s going to be at the game tomorrow with his family cheering for you,” Nikias told the unsuspecting football players.
USC had a rocky start to the season after the team fired head coach Lane Kiffin in September following their 62-41 loss to Arizona State in the first game of the season. (USC don’t play.) They remain in the competition with a 4-2 record prior to Saturday night’s game. Watch Dr. Dre wish the team good luck in the video below.
