As the buzz for F. Gary Gray’s Straight Outta Compton continues to grow, Dr. Dre announced he will donate the royalties from his album, Compton: A Soundtrack By Dr. Dre, to the city that raised him.
With Zane Lowe from Apple Music’s Beats 1 radio show, the music mogul said the proceeds from the album will help build a community center for kids in Compton. During a conversation with Compton Mayor Aja Brown, the two discussed ways Dre could give back.

“I’ve been really trying to do something special for Compton and just couldn’t quite figure out what it was. [Brown] actually had this idea, and she was already in the process of working on it. I said, ‘Boom! this is what we should do.’ ”
The 16-track record includes features from some of rap’s elite including Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, The Game, Xzibit. and Ice Cube.
