Apple is gearing up to step in the ring with Spotify, YouTube, Pandora and TIDAL with their upcoming plans to revamp iTunes Radio, and they’re reportedly bringing in the big guns. According to The New York Post, the tech giant is courting the services of Drake, Pharrell and David Guetta in a $19 million deal as guest DJs on their service.
The subscription-based streaming module will also reportedly offer a three-month free trial for the service, which will be priced at $10 per month. Apple is looking to get labels on board, however, with forgoing earning money on the rights for the music during that time. The company has combined the best of its competitors’ features, including music, video and Apple Connect, “a YouTube-style post-it-yourself destination,” the report reads.
The New York Post also noted that Jay Z’s TIDAL service is looking to partner with another big-named service, and has recently met with execs at Rhapsody. Apple will unveil its plans at their World Wide Developer Conference on June 8.
