Drake is taking legal action against a woman who attempted to extort him for millions. Drizzy has reportedly filed a lawsuit against the woman – now identified as Layla Lace – who falsely accused him of rape and getting her pregnant in order to drain his pockets, TMZ reports.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Drake met Lace in 2017 during his Boy Meets World Tour in Manchester, England. He claims the two had consensual sex in a hotel during one of his concert stops in Feb. 2017. Things allegedly turned sour after Drake declined to take Lace on tour with him. The lawsuit contains a number of text messages that Lace sent to Drake the weeks following their last encounter, in which she expressed how much she missed him. Drake alleges that she created some sort of “fantasy relationship” with him in her head to the point that it began to get pretty creepy.
When Drake stopped responding is when things grew worse. In Apr. 2017, Lace posted a photo on Instagram claiming she was pregnant. “So I guess still in this era this is the new thing that after you tell a dude you pregnant they stop answering they phone,” she captioned the pic. She later threatened to leak messages about their alleged relationship.
Drake did not respond, which triggered more action on Lace’s side. The woman reportedly filed a lawsuit in May 2017, demanding money to her take care of her baby and threatening the Scorpion artist with defamation. Drake responded to the suit, claiming it was all a scam. “There is no credible evidence of pregnancy, nor any baby, which would have been born last Fall,” his legal team claimed. Lace also refused to get a paternity test.
According to the new lawsuit, Lace then switched gears after her suit didn’t hold up in court. She reportedly went to the New York police and alleged Drake raped her during a one-night stand. At that point, Lace hired a new lawyer who demanded money from the rapper or else they would make the rape allegations public. Manchester police reportedly interviewed the rapper, ultimately clearing him of any charges. Even so, Lace continued to demand millions of dollars in exchange for her silence.
Lace won’t get a dime as long as Drake has something to say about it though. The rapper is suing for civil extortion, emotional distress, fraud, defamation, and abuse of process. It’s unclear how much he is requesting in monetary value.
