NPR’s Tiny Desk set has seen its fair share of musicians but we haven’t seen a show like dvsn’s in a while.
With bandmate Nineteen85 in the audience, Daniel Daley was accompanied by a trio of female vocalists and an all-male band. The singer performed a stripped down version of “Too Deep,” Sept. 5’s leading track. Sultry blue and purple hues transformed the normally bright set to dvsn’s loving R&B world.
Slowing this down from the mid-tempo track, the OVO Sound artist showed off his vocal prowess with “Body Smile.”
Finishing with “Mood,” the sets vibe took a turn as the blue and purple hues faded to red, casting a dominant shadow over this already sensual performance. While signing “Now I’m gonna make a time to make love/I’m gonna make a point to just focus on us/Now I’m gonna make sure you get enough/When I make it all about you, take care of us,” the 33-year-old made sure all of his nayhoos were to the highest of keys.
The group has stayed busy touring this year with sets at Atlanta’s ONE Music Festival, The Roots Picnic and also supported Miguel on The Ascension Tour.
