Just like his alter-ego suggests, Eminem has been acting a little shady lately.
After promising that a sequel to Relapse would be released in late 2009, he then decided to delay the album until 2010. And now that it’s 2010, Em has just announced that the album will now be ditched entirely. At least, according to his Twitter account: “There is no Relapse 2.”
Eminem has already reportedly recorded several tracks for the album, and as recently as last week, producer Just Blaze told MTV News, “A lot of good music is being made. … He’s really back spitting. The wordplay is crazy, the metaphors are crazy. He’s really back on his game. He had his ups, he had his downs, he’s back way, way, way up. This is definitely going to be up there with the best of his albums, for sure, for sure.”
Eminem has also been working with other artists recently and will appear with Paramore’s Hayley Williams on “Airplanes (Part. II)” off B.o.B’s debut album, The Adventures of Bobby Ray.
No other explanation was given and there is no word from Eminem’s camp as to what he will do with the tracks he has already recorded for the project or what his plans for the future are. —Jonathan Eiseman
