Empire has set records among all television networks, and its soundtrack is following suit. The show’s original musical compilation is now the number one album in the country, and it has become the first TV soundtrack to debut at the top spot since Glee in 2010.
Billboard has recently reported that the collection of music from the popular show totaled at 130,000 units in its opening week, which beat out Madonna’s Rebel Heart LP. The pop queen’s latest effort opened at number two with 121,000 units.
In addition to this triumph, the Empire soundtrack made a total of 84% (110,000 copies) in traditional album sales in its first week.
