Months after the choking death of Eric Garner, the Staten Island man’s family is still grieving and seeking justice. Especially his daughter, Erica, and his brother Steven Flagg. On a new dedication track produced by Flagg, the two sing and rap all their stresses on “This Ends Today.”
Erica kicks off the song with smooth vocals, but soon speaks her stanzas after Flagg’s own gravely rap verse. Their angst is immediately audible. “The grand jury lost their minds/it’s time for an appeal/If Eric was family they would know how it feels,” Flagg raps, just moments after Al Sharpton’s select words from Garner’s eulogy echoes in the background.
Then Erica questions why her father had to be snatched from her life, directly addresses the grand jury that didn’t indict Garner’s killer and marks the end of any silence from the Garner family from now on.

“Justice or all, not justice for one/This is how all this begun/What was the circumstances of his death?/Why couldn’t he take another breath?” she rhymes. “To the grand jury I have a bone to pick/The decision that they made really made me sick.”
