Erykah Badu has been in music making mood lately, and we love it. Just recently, the 44-year-old gave us music fiends a fix with her chill-out mixtape, But You Can’t Use My Phone.
Today (Jan. 12), the Dallas native adds some southern flavor to Kanye West’s “Real Friends” with her “Trill Friends” remix. Over the song’s sobering backdrop, Badu hypnotizes us with her alluring Baduizm as she wails and moans about our so-called homeboys and homegirls.
Maybe we’ll get an album from Badu in the near future. In her words: “I’m in the sketching phase,” which means she’s constantly coming up melodies on the piano and guitar, she said recently said to Pitchfork.
