Singer and host of the Soul Train Music Awards, Erykah Badu, spoke candidly about her forthcoming mixtape Caint Use My Phone, being a mother and what Drake’s music has done for her son on Wednesday’s episode of The Real (Nov. 25).
Badu, whose recent single “Phone Down” was dedicated to Drizzy, spoke to one of the show’s hosts Jeannie Mai about her friendship with the rapper and something special he did for her young son.
“Six years ago, I didn’t really know Drake very well, but I knew he was coming to town,” she told them. “And my oldest, Seven Sirius is eighteen and he was in sixth grade at the time, but I knew [he] was his favorite artist. Drake was his favorite artist. And I got in touch with Drake and I asked him if he could visit my son’s school to talk to his class. And he did it!”
Ms. Badu also showed the hosts a thing or two in a must-see rap battle competition called “Tongue Twista.” During a discussion about what they’re thankful about, host Tamar Braxton’s mom was able to fill us in on her daughter’s condition and Tamara Mowry-Housley discusses a back injury that made holding her newborn a lot more difficult. However, it looks like things are brightening up for both women.
