Rising R&B/soul singer Eryn Allen Kane premiered her highly-anticipated lead single off of her upcoming EP, Aviary: Act II, set for a Feb. 2 release date.
In “How Many Times,” the Detroit-raised, Chi-Town based musician delivers spine-chilling vocals over a piano, while gospel-infused background voices and an exciting rhythm section beautifully round out the show-stopping effort.
The musician has been on the radar of many, starting with the high praise of her debut single, “Have Mercy,” in April 2015. Her November 2015 EP, Aviary: Act I, was met with critical acclaim, and she was handpicked by Spike Lee to have her voice heard on the soundtrack for his film, Chi-Raq. She was also invited to perform with music icon Prince in his song “Baltimore,” performed in memory of Freddie Gray. Rap fans: you also may have heard her voice on Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experiment’s 2015 album, SURF.
The official (and sold-out) Aviary release show, which celebrates the release of both Acts I and II, will take place at Chicago’s City Winery on Friday, February 19th. Check out Kane’s performance of “How Many Times” on Chicago’s Windy City Live yesterday (Jan. 19).
