When your moment to show and prove arrives, you better be ready to deliver. Luckily Ayanna—the lucky fan plucked from the Sweetlife Festival stage to rap with Kendrick Lamar—was well prepared.
While headlining Sweet Green’s second-annual fest last weekend (May 30-31), K.Dot wanted to see how well his listeners knew his music and if they could keep up with him on the mic bar-for-bar. The song of choice this go-round was his tongue-twisting good kid, M.A.A.D city cut, “m.A.A.d city.” Sweetgreen’s co-founder Jonathan Neman gave it a shot and, as seen in the above video, didn’t make it past the first line.

When Ayanna got called onto the stage, however, she went from zero to 100. Instantly snapping out of her initially nervous demeanor, she barely missed a word and commanded the stage like it was her own. K.Dot had to give her props right then and there.
That had to be a huge moment for the longtime fan. Ayanna’s Twitter feed shows she’s been living on Cloud 9 ever since the big day.
