In a previous sit-down with TIDAL’s “Coca Vision” show hosted by Fat Joe, the Bronx native chatted with Tekashi 6ix9ine about his music and dangerous behavior. Nearly nine months later, the “Gummo” rapper is facing a 32 year to life sentence for a RICO case. Now, Fat Joe is speaking on Tekashi’s fate.
“I was just tryna’ school him,” the “Lean Back” rapper continued. “I’ve been through that. I’ve had the heat on me. I was wylin’ in the streets, so I tried to tell him as a young kid… It’s my job. Because none of the OGs when I came into the rap game schooled me. They could have stopped me.”
Recalling memories two weeks prior to the arrest, Fat Joe shared a conversation the two men had while performing at shows in Dubai. “I think I’m catching this case,” Tekashi told the 48-year-old entertainer before his life became a public scandal.
Facing a possible maximum sentence of life in prison for six counts of racketeering among other offenses, the father-of-one’s arrest has sparked mixed feelings in the hip-hop community.
Among advocates like Nicki Minaj, who’s praying for Tekashi, Fat Joe has urged fans and foes, particularly young rappers, to view this case as an example of gang culture’s dark side.
I prayed for 69 last night like we all should don’t ever wish jail on your worst enemy God is Great
