Fresh off its televised special honoring the best lades in hip hop, VH1 has garnered a bit of flak in regards to who was left out of the recent “Hip Hop Honors” ceremony. Despite paying homage to leading female pioneers in the music genre such as Lil’ Kim, Missy Elliott, Queen Latifah and Salt N’ Pepa, the televised event garnered a bit of negative press for failing to recognize Lauryn Hill, Angie Stone and Foxy Brown.
Giving that the event was titled VH1 Hip-Hop Honors: All Hail The Queens, it’s understandable why some fans of the Brooklyn native were incensed at her egregious snub at the ceremony. However, it seems as if the Ill Na Na rapper is taking it all in stride. The rapper posted a caption on Instagram Wednesday (July 13), detailing her disaffected attitude regarding her snub.
“Personally, I’d prefer being held to a much higher standard in my walk,” she said. “After all guys, this is VH1.”
