French Montana is once again speaking out on the Kanye West and Max B mix-up over Yeezy’s planned usage of “WAVES” for his now-released album. Just days after he discussed the incident on Hot 97, the rapper hit Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club on Tuesday (Feb. 23) to clarify the mishap that spurred West and Wiz Khalifa’s heated Twitter beef last month.
Montana, whose Wave Gods mixtape premiered on Friday (Feb. 19) via DJ Khaled’s “We The Best” radio show, told the trio that Yeezy’s desire to use the term for his now-retitled The Life of Pablo project spoke to Max B’s forward-thinking.
“I feel like it’s dope when somebody do something and they don’t even know they’re doing it,” he said. “Like damn, my boy was really ahead of his time.”
The New York native’s latest comments reiterate what he said on Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning in response to those who felt that West was stealing Max B’s shtick by naming his new project “WAVES.”
“Kanye didn’t really know who Max B is, which is kind of strange to me when me and him were talking,” he said. “Once I gave him the homework behind everything, you know, we got it together.”
According to Montana, the situation quickly worked itself out. Not only was Max B featured on Yeezy’s newest album, but the Chicago native is also assisting Max B with his legal woes as the Harlem rapper is currently serving 75 years in prison.
“We been on the phone damn near every day trying to put something together for my boy,” French said.
