Meek Mill – CHAMPIONSHIPS
Meek Mill’s new studio album, Championships is probably the most anticipated album release this week. The album is the first studio LP Meek has put out since he was released from prison for a probation violation.
Just ahead of the album’s release, the Philly native shared the tracklist, which includes an impressive list of features. JAY-Z, Cardi B, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Kodak Black, Ella Mai, and more will reportedly appear on the album.
Most notably, Drake will also be on featured on the single “Going Bad,” marking the official end to the duo’s previous feud. The two reportedly squashed everything during a stop on Drake’s latest tour. Meek and Drake previously worked on 2016’s “R.I.C.O.”
Lil Baby – Street Gossip
Lil Baby burst on the scene earlier this year and is rapidly becoming rap’s breakout star. After stealing the show on recent projects from City Girls and Tory Lanez, Lil Baby dropped his highly-anticipated mixtape Street Gossip.
The album features guest appearances from Meek Mill, Young Thug, and more. Gucci Mane and 2 Chainz are also on the pre-released single “Anyway,” while Offset is featured on “Realist In It.”
If Lil Baby delivers, his new mixtape will only take his career to the next level.
Earl Sweatshirt – Some Rap Songs
Earl Sweatshirt has also blessed fans with new tunes this week. The rapper dropped his third studio album Some Rap Songs.
Earl leaked the 15-song tracklist earlier this week, and it appears to be a little light on features compared to the other Friday releases. It includes appearances from his parents, Cheryl Harris, and the late South African poet laureate Keorapetse Kgositsile.
The album is sort of a big moment for the rapper, as it’s his first studio album in three years. He dropped his last project, I Don’t Like S**t, I Don’t Go Outside in 2016.
DaniLeigh – The Plan
After creating some buzz with her “In My Feelings Challenge” entry, DaniLeigh just dropped her debut studio album The Plan. The singer has been in the game for awhile, working with the likes of Prince and others, but now she is ready to give it a shot on her own.
The album features 13 tracks and includes guest appearances from YG, Lil Baby, Lil Yachty, YBN Nahmir, and more. It also includes her hit single “Lil Bebe,” which she previously performed at the annual Tidal Benefiti Concert in Brooklyn in Oct. 2018.
Ski Mask the Slump God – Stokeley
After some delay, Ski Mask the Slump God has finally released his debut studio album, Stokeley. The album was originally supposed to drop in Oct. 2018, but the deadline was pushed back to perfect the final touches.
The 13-track project features the pre-released tracks “So High,” ” La La,” and “Unbothered,” as well as guest appearances from Lil Baby, Young Thug, and Lil Yachty.
Big K.R.I.T. – Double Down
Big K.R.I.T. dropped the phenomenal double disc 4eva Is A Mighty Long Time in October 2017, but he isn’t resting on his laurels. Last week he released a surprise three-song EP called Thrice X, and Friday, he’s back with a two-song set called Double Down. “Learned From Texas” sees him paying homage to his southern roots as usual with a trunk thumper, while “Pick Yourself Up” is one of the more unique productions that K.R.I.T. has ever rapped over. It looks like the independent life is working out well for the Mississippi king.
Kodak Black – “Calling My Spirit”
Kodak Black recently dropped his new track “Calling My Spirit.” The track serves as the third single release from his forthcoming, sophomore album Dying to Live. It follows the pre-released tracks, “If I’m Lyin,” I’m Flyin,” and “Zeze,” featuring Travis Scott and Offset.
Dying to Live is slated to drop on Dec. 14.
Chance the Rapper – “The Man Who Has Everything”; “My Own Thing” feat. Joey Purp
Chance the Rapper has been rather quiet lately, but he just gifted fans with two singles on SoundCloud. The first track is called “The Man Who Has Everything” and reflects on materialism that sometimes overshadows the true spirit of Christmas.
The second track, the hype “My Own Thing,” features Joey Purp and sees Chano referencing his new engagement to longtime girlfriend Kristen Corley. Chance and Purp previously worked on the 2016 collaboration “Girls.” With these tracks and the four songs that Chance dropped earlier this year, fans have something to hold them over until his next solo album and his reported joint project with Kanye West.
Gucci Mane & Quavo – “BiPolar”
Gucci Mane and Quavo recently joined forces for their new song “BiPolar.” The track was produced by Deko, Smash David, and OG ParkeR, and serves as the newest single from Gucci’s forthcoming, 13th studio album, Evil Genius. He previously released the singles “Solitaire,” “I’m Not Goin’,” and “Wake Up in the Sky,” featuring Bruno Mars and Kodak Black. Evil Genius is slated to drop before the end of the year.
Migos member Quavo, recently dropped his debuted solo album Quavo Huncho in Oct. 2018. The album peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
