Future is gearing up for the release of his latest album The WIZRD and stopped by Power 106 studio to discuss the creative process.
At about the nine or 10-minute mark, host J Cruz questions Future on whether or not would he collaborate with R. Kelly, to which Future answers the question dismissively.
“Man, who is that? I thought we had forgot about that? We giving it too much attention,” Future said. “When you give things too much attention, they blow up. That’s why he gon’ blow up. That’s why his music gonna do what it do. If you stop talking about it, it’ll go away.”
Writer and filmmaker dream hampton premiered her three-part series Surviving R. Kelly on Lifetime and detailed the years of sexual assault and domestic abuse allegations leveled against the singer-songwriter. Since its premiere, R. Kelly’s songs have spiked on streaming platforms, but the Grammy-award winning artist may now be under investigation in Fulton County, Georgia.
Ortiz questioned if there was a sense of “fake outrage” due hampton’s doc. “I don’t know what it is, there’s just too many people talking about it,” Future responded. “I think behind the scenes it’s supposed to be done.”
