Gorillaz’ long awaited fifth album is finally here. The virtual band created by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett have officially released Humanz, their first album since 2010’s The Fall.
Humanz was conceived as reaction to the recently terrifying developments in politics, particularly the election of Donald Trump. Albarn says they sought to answer the question, “What would happen if the world was turned, in some unthinkable way, on its head?” But don’t expect any overt references to Trump. He even he went as far as editing out any references to Trump to avoid giving him more fame.
As always, there’s a grip of impressive collaborators, including Grace Jones, Vince Staples, Pusha T, Popcaan, D.R.A.M., Mavis Staples, and Anthony Hamilton.
