There were some who foolishly surmised that rhythm and blues were dead. With the global take over of hip-hop, many assumed the lyrics and melodies that rocked us to sleep or made us still believe in love were of yesteryear.
However, the R&B nominees for the 61st Annual Grammy Awards airing tonight (Feb. 10) proved that R&B isn’t dead, in fact, it’s alive and well. With legends earning nods such as Toni Braxton and Lalah Hathaway, as well as newcomers H.E.R and Daniel Caesar, all show that the spectrum for R&B is far, wide and ever reaching.
Among the contenders within the Rap categories, industry darling Cardi B is going to head to head with the 6-God as well as Travis Scott in the Best Rap Performance Categories, making it anyone’s game.
