On his latest mixtape Trap Back 2, Gucci Mane raps about commiting acts of violence and posessing illegal narcotics. So, it may come as no surprise that the “Trap God” is in trouble with the law again.
Atlanta Police have issued an arrest warrant for Gucci, after the 33-year-old rapper allegedly struck a soldier in the head, while promoting the mixtape’s debut last Friday at an Atlanta club. The soldier told Atlanta’s WSBTV that he was just trying to take a photo with the rapper in near the VIP area when he was suddenly attacked.
“I’m in the military. I wanted to get a picture with Gucci Mane, is it OK?” said the soldier, who identified himself as James. “I was speaking to the security guard, and Gucci Mane hit me in the head with a bottle. And as I looked at him in the shock of why, one of his friends hit me in the side of my face.”
James was reportedly in Atlanta to celebrate his birthday, after returning to the US from Afghanistan in October of 2012. He was later rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital where he recieved ten stitches and is suffering from a concussion.
“We do have an active warrant for Mr. Davis for aggravated assault,” Atlanta Police Lt. Jeff Cantin told TMZ. “So I’m sure after he sees this, I’m sure he’ll want to reach out and contact us.”
Gucci’s legal woes span over a decade now and range from cocaine posession to battery, reckless conduct and aggravated assault. Under Georgia law, the current allegations against Gucci are punishable by up to one year in jail and/or a fine up to $1,000 or probation. The penalty may be more severe due to his past rap sheet.
