Iggy Azalea is fighting fire with fire and suing her ex-boyfriend for releasing early music.
According to The Hollywood Reporter Iggy is suing Jefe Wine for releasing her early master recordings. As the story goes, while Iggy was 17 and living in Houston, she reportedly met Wine who presented himself as a partner in a oil company. In 2009, he followed her to Atlanta and moved in with the “Fancy” rapper as she was pursuing her music career.
According to the lawsuit, it was at this time when Wine “downloaded the entire contents of Azalea’s personal computer,” including unreleased master recordings. Fast forward to July 2014 when “Fancy” began to take off, a press release hit the Internet announcing a business venture between Primco, ESMG, Top Sail and Wine Enterprises, Inc was underway and alleged they secured the rights to release an EP from Azalea titled “Inizio”
Well Azalea isn’t having it and plans to hit her former boyfriend–real name Maurice Williams–with some serious litigations. Per the lawsuit, the music from her unreleased masters is a violation of copyright, trademark, name and license. The New Classic femcee is also alleging conversion of stolen information from her computer.
Man, this is getting really ugly. I guess it’s true what they say. You have to be careful who you do business with.
