The Internet’s laid back, cool kid vibes have garnered the praise of just about everyone, even the oddest of individuals with less than a single ounce of rhythm.
The Odd Future/Sony signees emitting a refreshing indie spin on the realm of R&B put a slight twist on their signature sound with their latest track, “Special Affair.” Released today (June 2), the neo-soul band’s front woman, Syd the Kyd coos to her heart’s content with the assistance of Matt Martians‘ ill production and touring members Jameel Bruner, Patrick Paige, Christopher A. Smith, and Steve Lacy’s background vocals and live instrumentation. A departure from Syd’s usual airy and angelic sentiments, she lays down a darker, more sultry vibe as she laces the track with breathy, mood setting vocals, singing of a special night endorsed by Patron.
