J. Cole dropped the visuals for his latest single, “Middle Child” on Monday (Feb. 25), and the rapper’s day-one fanbase is already writing their praises on social media.
Cole initially dropped the single in Jan. 2019. On the song, he illustrates himself as an artist at the center of the rookie and veteran generations in the hip-hop community. He discusses his desire to give advice to newer artists like Kodak Black, receiving gifts from Drake, and sitting down with Jay-Z.
Ahead of the music video’s release, J. Cole performed his new track during the halftime show at the 2019 NBA All-Star Game.
“Middle Child” is the highest-charting single of J. Cole’s career. It peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 shortly after it’s release.
It also serves as just the beginning of new material rolling out from Cole and his Dreamville camp. Additionally, the KOD artist recently starred in another music video alongside Ari Lennox for “Shea Butter Baby,” which is featured on Creed II: The Album.
