
The late-Detroit MC J Dilla’s posthumous release Motor City dropped today (Apr. 21). The 19-song mixtape was preceded by the teaser “J-Rocc Blend #2,” featuring guest spots from Q-Tip and Busta Rhymes.

The album’s packaging is in an envelope that includes a handwritten note from J Dilla to his mom, Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancey. She has been extremely influential in keeping his legacy alive through the J. Dilla Foundation, as well as swaying the release of two of his other posthumous records, The Diary and Jay Dee’s Ma Dukes Collection.
According to Ma Dukes, Dilla died due to cardiac arrest in 2006, just a few days after his 32nd birthday and the release of his album Donuts. Stream the project below.
