While one hip-hop icon has just been sentenced to jail time for tax evasion, another has reportedly left the clink for similar charges. Queens MC Ja Rule has reportedly been released from his Ray Brook Federal Prison in New York today (May 7). Though the former Murder Inc. spitter wasn’t set to be released until July 28, several tweets from industry folk have stirred rumors that he is a free man.

Ja was hit with a two-year sentence in 2010 when he pled guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon from a 2007 incident where cops discovered a loaded semi-automatic handgun in his sports car.
