Grammy-winning diva Janelle Monáe is ready to drop her sophomore effort and has recruited a few notable artists for the cause.
The “Tightrope” singer poses pretty for the new Billboard magazine cover and revealed to the music mag that Miguel and Prince will appear on her Electric Lady LP.
“We are great friends, and he is a mentor to us, to me,” she says of working with the artist formally known as Prince. “It’s a beautiful thing to have a friend — someone who cares about your career, and wants to see you go far and to push boundaries and shake up the world — give whatever they possibly can to the cause.”
Monáe didn’t hesitate to share wax with the iconic figure. “It’s not every day that he collaborates. I’m honored and humbled that he trusted me,” she said, keeping mum about the track’s title. “He is forever my friend, and I am forever indebted. I can’t say too much else about it.”
Other high-powered features include “Adorn” crooner Miguel who sprinkles notes on “Primetime” and Erykah Badu who co-stars on the album’s headlining single “Q.U.E.E.N..”
