On her 49th birthday, Janet Jackson decided to give the masses a gift. Taking to Twitter with a special announcement video, the elusive legend released a 49-second video announcement of her return to music. Answering the call of fans who have not-so-subtly begged for another helping of Damita Jo, Jackson let the news loose at the strike of midnight.
“I promised you’d hear it from my lips and now you will,” she said. “This year: new music; new world tour; a new movement. I’ve been listening. Let’s keep the conversation going.”
Still Got It: Janet Jackson Makes Her First Public Appearance In A Year
Employing the hashtag #ConversationsInACafe, Janet Jackson loyalists and onlookers alike suspect that the singer may be referring to the album’s name. Though the details were not divulged – and Jackson’s ageless face did not make the video – the reel was enough to have the Internet on edge, especially after fans had been duped with an inaccurate album announcement last year. The singer’s response to earlier reports find her making good on a promise.
“If there is a new project, you’ll hear it from my lips,” she wrote on Twitter back in August.
