
Jay-Z is set to be acknowledged for his outstanding commitment to service and excellence in his community this weekend. Hov will reportedly receive the President’s Award at the 50th NAACP Image Awards.
The exciting news was announced on Thursday (Mar. 28). The prestigious honor, which recognizes public service, will reportedly be presented by NAACP President Derrick Johnson.
“The President’s Award is an honor we carefully bestow upon an individual, maintaining its significance and commitment to recognizing excellence in service that directly affects our community,” Johnson said in a statement. “Shawn Carter (Jay’s government name) has been committed to shedding light on the issues that plague the black community including systematic racism and unjust treatment under the law, utilizing his global platform to create everlasting change… There is no better time than now, as we celebrate our 50th year, to honor him with this award.”
The Image Awards will be hosted by Black-Ish’s Anthony Anderson and will feature a long list of esteemed presenters including VIBE Mar. 2019 cover star Winston Duke, Issa Rae, Danai Gurira, John Legend, Lupita Nyong’o, Marsai Martin, Mike Epps, Regina Hall, Ron Stallworth, Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Van Jones, Vin Diesel, Viola Davis, Lena Waithe, Trevor Noah.
The 2019 NAACP Image Awards will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. It will air on TV One on Mar. 30, at 9 p.m./8c.
