What does a Brooklyn-raised hip-hop star and a millennial reality show star from Calabasas have in common? They are both two of the biggest celebrity ballers this year.
On Wednesday (Dec. 18), Forbes released its 2018 ranking of “America’s Wealthiest Celebrities” and Kylie Jenner made her first appearance on the list to tie with Jay-Z at No. 5.
Hov and Kylie both earned an estimated amount of $900 million.
Jay-Z – who has always extended his reach beyond music, – holds stakes in liquor brands like Armand de Brignac champagne and D’Ussé cognac. He also still has his place in entertainment company with major companies such as Roc Nation and the music streaming platform Tidal.
The 21-year-old Keeping Up With the Kardashians star brought in a hefty amount of earnings this year, largely due to her cosmetics business. Kylie Cosmetics alone, has earned over $630 million since it’s debut in mid-2015. She attains 100% ownership of the beauty empire.
Jenner can credit her social media following – which totals 167.8 million – for the huge success as well. The Life of Kylie personality acknowledges the power of social media, telling the business magazine, “Social media is an amazing platform.” I have such easy access to my fans and my customers.”
