The stars are coming out to end world poverty. This September, Jay Z will headline the 2014 Global Citizen Festival at the Great Lawn in New York’s Central Park.
“Change only takes place when and where there is action,” Hov said in a statement. “I’m joining the 2014 Global Citizen Festival because I believe through actions, whether it be by raising awareness, getting involved or educating ourselves, the goal to end extreme poverty by 2030 is possible.”
The annual charity event will pull big names from all genres including EDM extraordinaire Tiesto, country starlet Carrie Underwood, multi-talented band The Roots and pop quartet No Doubt, who will be performing for the first time together in two years. Last year’s line-up boasted John Mayer, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Elvis Costello and Kings of Leon.
24,000 pairs of tickets are being distributed for free and are earned by taking action on the Global Citizen’s site. The event will return to the park Sept. 27.
