Brooklyn’s very own continues to lay down the blueprint for entrepreneurs worldwide. Shawn “Jay Z” Carter recently announced a two-year deal with The Weinstein Company for a film and TV partnership, Billboard Biz reports.
Within the signed collaboration, television/film endeavors from the scripted and unscripted realms will be produced by the Roc Nation head honcho. In a statement issued by the “Empire State of Mind” rapper, Mr. Carter shared his plans in beginning this new journey.
“I’m excited to tell stories from real-life prophets, whom through their struggles have changed the world for the better, and others whose stories are filled with fantasy and delight,” he said. “Harvey and David are visionaries both of whom have done this time and time again. I’m already passionate about what we currently have in the pipeline and I’m looking forward to discovering others.”
The company’s co-chairman, Harvey Weinstein, also revealed his delight in working side-by-side with the world-renowned mogul.
“Jay’s ability to influence entertainment and pop culture has gone well beyond music for many years,” he states. “He approaches every aspect of his career with both determination and effortlessness, making him one of the leading power players in entertainment history. We already have some exceptional projects in the works and are excited to see what more is to come.”
Jay is no stranger to the Hollywood scene, jotting down producing credits on The Great Gatsby, the 2014 remake of Annie, cult-classic Paid in Full, and Chris Rock’s Top Five.
