Famed R&B vocalist Jazmine Sullivan came under major scrutiny Wednesday (Oct. 19), following a Facebook note on the passing of gospel singer, Thomas “TC” Clay.
The “10 Seconds” singer was called out on social media for her remarks, which a few people deemed to be self-centered. After being notified of everyone’s backlash, Sullivan took to Instagram to post an apology for her recent comments.
“It was not in my heart nor my intention to bring attention to myself and I am truly upset at the thought that I may have taken up one second in this time of mourning,” she writes. “I was just caught up in all the love for TC I had seen for a couple of days. So on that morning when I went to post a pic and caption about myself, instead I started thinking of him and the next thing I knew I was writing my story of how we met.”
The Philly native added that it was not her plan for her eulogy to serve as a story of how she “curved” Clay, “or disrespect him by making him seem annoying, but to show how I missed the opportunity to get to know a great guy!”
