When it comes to hip-hop, Jermaine Dupri is in the know. After all, he’s spent most of his life creating hits and working with the best in the game. While sitting down with Rap Radar‘s Elliott Wilson and Brian “B-Dot” Miller, the super producer shared his friendship with Jay Z and his upcoming album.
Yes, his upcoming album.
For some time, rumors have surfaced about a project from Hova, following the release of Beyonce’s critically-acclaimed album, Lemonade. Jay has also appeared on the tracks “I Got The Keys” and the remix to Fat Joe-Remy Man smash, “All The Way Up.” After his powerful single, “spiritual” dropped this month, thoughts about the rapper making a response album to Lemonade diminished while expectations of an actual Jay Z project rose.
Dupri confirmed the news while
discussing their friendship. “We have conversations and we talk unlike anybody else,” he said. “Even at the Beyonce concert..I know the name of Hov’s new album and everything right now. Me and him…we good.” He also hinted that the project might be completed. “I’m probably…It might be done,” he said while joking about contributing a beat to the rapper.
During the rest of the podcast, Dupri talks about his search for the next rap star, his DJ residency in Vegas, why he find Kim Kardashian-West inspiring and more.
