
After Jhene Aiko’s 2014 release Souled Out, the singer has yet to drop another solo soundscape. But following the arrival of her recent interview with Nylon Magazine on Wednesday (June 1), it seems as if that all may change in a major way sooner than we think.

When asked about new music, the singer admitted to her upcoming release being three things: three years in the works, very personal, and more than simply an album. Aiko states, “Yeah, that’s why I just want to call it a project. An experience. I would say, it’s definitely bigger than anything I’ve ever done.”
With that in mind, the “Bed Peace” singer also states that after her short film with Big Sean under the TWENTY88 moniker titled “Out of Love,” fans can expect more acting with this project as well. “I feel like writing and acting and just expressing myself have always been things that I wanted to develop as an artist, so what I’ve been working on pretty much involves everything that I feel is my passion, rolled into one.”

The icing on the cake came when she confirmed that John Mayer has been helping her with some music. While it’s unclear if he’s writing for/with her or actually featuring on a song, anything with these two is sure to grab our attention.
