This week, Joey Bad$$ spoke to students at New York University. During the discussion the Brooklyn native discussed his rise in the industry, lessons learned along the way, and he also gave he gave a brief history of his Pro Era crew.
Shortly after the collegiate visit, Joey premiered a brand new song with Ebro Darden on Apple Music’s Beats 1 with “Ready.” And the Brooklyn native sounds more focused than ever.
Produced by frequent collaborator Statik Selektah, Joey Badmon spits verses about the ups-and-downs that he has endured since entering the rap game, having a chance to sign with Jay J’s Roc Nation, and being an independent artist.
Then, as many fans and critics believe, Bada$$ opened an old can of worms between with Troy Ave after rapping: “My ni*** Kirk just sold more albums than Troy Ave. “
Now, some seem to think that Joey is throwing shots at the BSB boss But Bada$$ insists that he’s not. This morning (Feb. 23), the Pro Era rep took to Twitter say his peace.
“Idk what’s all of this “beef” talk. This shit is dead irrelevant to me…. There is no real problems. Kill all of that shit plz. Thank u”
Back in 2015, Bada$$ and Troy Ave went back and forth on Twitter about who sold more records as an independent artist. But that’s old news, and we believe that both Troy Ave and Joey are much bigger than a month old brief Twitter disagreement.
