According to Dr. Dre, we’re one step closer to finally hearing Jon Connor’s long-awaited, major label debut album. Earlier this week, the Aftermath signee broke his year-long silence with his new song “I’m Back.” Within the first few seconds of the record, Dr. Dre introduces Connor and confirms Vehicle City is coming in 2018. That’s when Connor jumps in and destroys the instrumental to Remy Ma and Lil Kim’s “Wake Me Up.”
Since signing to Aftermath Records in 2013, Connor has delivered fresh installments of his Best In The World mixtape series based on Kanye West and the Notorious B.I.G, and was featured in Dr. Dre’s Compton. Connor made noise in 2016 with his ode to his hometown of Flint, MI along with Keke Palmer called “Fresh Water For Flint.” The Unconscious State rapper did well to keep a low profile throughout 2017 as he put in work at the studio for Vehicle City.
Although Dre is teasing the possibility of dropping his long lost Detox album, Interscope/Aftermath is setting Connor up to dominate in 2018. Listen to Jon Connor’s new single “I’m Back” below.
