Juice WRLD currently has the number one album in the country, and on Monday night (April 8) he performed a song from his album Death Race for Love on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The 20-year-old artist performed his hit single, “Hear Me Calling” with the help of The Roots while decked down in a Supreme t-shirt and paint-stained overalls.
His performance of “Hear Me Calling” had the audience cheering at some points, and the Chicago rapper didn’t hold himself back from lightly dancing along to his trap ballad. While Juice WRLD sang about not being “a fighter” but “a lover” in the background of his set, The Roots performed with a scantily clad woman in a telephone booth at the center.
Towards the end of his set on Fallon’s show, Juice WRLD switched up his lyrics and it seems like there were double meanings to the extra lines he had. “Do you hear me calling? Do you hear me calling? Late night on Fallon,” he sang. “Tryna send you a message. Do you hear me calling? Do you hear me calling? Late night on Fallon. I’m just tryna give you this message.”
Juice WRLD’s original lyrics don’t include anything about sending a special someone a message, and given an Instagram post the young artist made three days ago, it could be directed to the woman in the picture.
“I would Race death for your love and win every time,” he wrote in the caption. “I’ll make anything happen if it’s making you mine…bae keep that in mind.”
It could be an innocent alteration to his hit song, or a dedication to his “bae.” Regardless his performance on the late night show was flawless and hopefully the young performer will be able to keep the same energy when he performs at Coachella on April 12 and 19.
