No matter your feelings towards his personal life, there’s no question here that Justin Bieber is back and coming with true purpose. The leader of the Belieber nation just dropped his latest album, Purpose, and the 19-track record seems to tell a story of his maturity both in his personal experiences and in the new chapter of his career.
Purpose follows the R&B heavy Journals, but strikes a different sound than it and its pop-filled predecessor, Believe. Songs like “Sorry” and “What Do You Mean,” which released previous to the album, use techno beats to sing of the up and downs of relationships, while songs like “I’ll Show You,” sing of his struggles with fame and run-ins with the media.
Although it comes off as a cohesive project, the album goes back and forth from high-energy, EDM anthems to soft ballads. The albums features guest appearances from Travis Scott, Big Sean, and Nas. It was leaked that Ed Sheeran co-wrote “What Do You Mean.”
