Despite reports that Drake’s sideline trash-talk towards Chicago Bulls player Justin Holiday caused a turnover and a five-second violation during the fourth quarter of a Bulls vs. Toronto Raptors game, Holiday is singing a different tune.
“I was listening to the ref,” the small forward/shooting guard told ESPN of the rumors. “The ref was talking to me at the time. And I had to focus on getting the ball in the play. I wasn’t worried about what Drake was talking about.”
Holiday, who admitted he is a “big fan” of the Canadian rapper, admitted that he knows Drake is a huge fan on the Raptors. However, he says that the video of Drake on the sidelines appearing to psych Holiday out was taken out of context.
“He’s a fan—he’s a big fan of Toronto, does a lot for them, does a lot as far as supporting them and it’s good for him,” he said. “But at the same time, though, how much credit he’s given for that play—it’s people’s perspectives but obviously he had nothing to do with the play and what happened with it.”
There is one parody of the scene in question, however, that did make Holiday laugh.
“The one with Meek Mill’s face? That mess was funny.”
