When Kanye West infamously said “slavery was a choice” many raised their eyebrows in disbelief. And if that comment merited pause, then Mr. West has outdone himself yet again with his newest declaration. Taking to Twitter Sunday (Sept. 30) wearing Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” hat, Ye now thinks the country should abolish the 13th amendment.
For those of you who aren’t history buffs, the 13th amendment was passed in 1865 and outlawed slavery and involuntary servitude.
“This represents good and America becoming whole again. We will no longer outsource to other countries. We build factories here in America and create jobs. We will provide jobs for all who are free from prisons as we abolish the 13th amendment. Message sent with love,” Ye captioned.

The photo was posted a day after his pro-Trump rant after performing as the Season 44 opener for Saturday Night Live. Chris Rock was in the audience and recorded West’s comments which merited scant applause from a few, as well as audible boos from others.
“The blacks want always Democrats… you know it’s like the plan they did, to take the fathers out the home and put them on welfare… does anybody know about that? That’s a Democratic plan,” he continued. “There’s so many times I talk to, like, a white person about this and they say, ‘How could you like Trump? He’s racist.’ Well, uh, if I was concerned about racism I would’ve moved out of America a long time ago.”
Whether realizing the magnitude of his tweet or feeling the backlash, West double backed on his original comment.
