Kanye West is stepping up for his home state of California in the wake of the tragic wildfires. The rapper has reportedly made a huge donation of $500,000 toward the relief for the men and women who put their lives in danger to combat the vicious fires that took the lives and homes of many, TMZ reports.
Kim Kardashian reportedly made the announcement on behalf of her husband on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday (Nov. 21). The donation came about after a serious discussion she had with Kanye about the wildfires. It was then that Kanye contacted his friends at Adidas and associates from his Yeezy brand to take immediate action.
During the Ellen episode, Kim reportedly presented a check for $200,000 to the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund and an additional $200K to the California Fire Foundation. She also presented another $100,000 check to a firefighter and his wife who also appear on Ellen.
Kanye’s generous donation comes after reports claimed he and Kardashian hired personal firefighters to assist in the extinguishing of fires in their neighborhood. Yeezy also suggested he was working on building a fire-proof community, although he has not shared any other details.
Stay tuned for the big reveal on Ellen today.
