Here’s a clip that will warm your heart and break it at the same time.
Kanye West had quite the special bond with his late mother, Donda West. In a clip from an MTV special on the making of Late Registration, Yeezy has the dopest “mommy and me moment” ever. As Mama West tries to remember one of her son’s old verses, the rapper tries to help out, but can’t recall all of the words himself. The two then reflect on how good the verse was as Donda inquires whether her son thought it was good enough to release.

“Nah it’s good,” Kanye tell his mother. “That shows you if you have a rap that actually means something, it’s good. It’ll stand the test of time if you say something.”
The end of the video features Kanye and Mrs. West sing along to an early version of his first on-wax ode to her, “Hey Mama.” All smiles as they recite the lyrics together, the two-and-a-half minute clip ends on a light note.
