If you thought Kanye West was planning to show up to the 59th annual Grammys awards ceremony next year, you can forget about it — that is, unless Frank Ocean is nominated. Kanye used up some time during his Saint Pablo Tour stop Saturday (Oct. 22) to rant about Frank Ocean and the music industry’s most prestigious night.
Yeezy wants the Grammy committee to put some respeck on Frank Ocean’s name. “The album I listened to the most this year is Frank Ocean’s album,” the Pablo rapper said in front of a roaring crowd. “And I’ll tell you this right now: if his album’s not nominated in no categories, I’m not showing up to the Grammys. As artists, we gotta come together to fight the bullsh*t they been throwing us with.”

Unfortunately for Frank and his biggest ‘stan’ Kanye, it doesn’t look like the singer will be up for any awards next year. As previously reported, Frank’s latest records, Blonde and Endless are actually ineligible for Grammys consideration because it missed a crucial deadline. Although the album was released before the Sept. 30, cutoff date, both albums missed the deadline to submit for consideration.
But while that may come as a bummer to Kanye, a source close to Frank revealed that the singer intentionally withheld his albums from the nomination process, according to Billboard. Frank might not be in the running, but at least Yeezy’s other prodigy, Chance the Rapper may get his shot. The Chicago rapper is predicted to be a top contender for his Magnificent Coloring Book, which was released in May 2016. We’ll just have to see if Kanye shows up come February 12, 2017, when the ceremony airs.
