Nine years later, Kanye West still feels the sting from the death of his beloved mother Donda. Early Wednesday morning (July 13) Kanye tweeted out a post honoring his mom on what would have been her 67th birthday. West posted a simple yet emotional tweet that tugged at heart strings of many across the Internet.
NORI ASKED IF THE AIRPLANE COULD TAKE HER TO HEAVEN TO SEE YOU FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY, I LOVE YOU MOM pic.twitter.com/4W9htygzXg

Donda West died in 2007 from plastic surgery complications. Fans may remember his emotional performance of his song “Hey Mama” at the 2008 Grammys. Most recently, Kanye looks to immortalize his mom with a new video game titled Only One. The game is suppose to be about her flying to heaven, and fans have only received a small taste of what the game will be like from a short trailer that Ye released earlier this year.
Donda West continues to influence Kanye. Now a father himself, Ye seems to gain creative inspiration from his mama. Her death served as a catalyst for him to make his innovative album 808s and Heartbreak, and most recently his song “Only One” which is suppose to be a song/message sung to his daughter North from his late mother’s perspective. Kanye’s creative group, DONDA seems to be the culmination of how his mother continues to be a source of inspiration for almost everything he does.
