On New Year’s Day, Kanye West was the talk of the ‘Net when he dropped his high-energy song “Facts.” Many listeners interpreted it as a lyrical diss aimed at Nike, and even warranted a few responses from people involved in the sneaker industry including Michael Jordan’s son and now, LeBron James.
The lyric in question that prompted Cleveland.com to ask King James about his stance on the melody was: “Nike, Nike treat employees just like slaves/ Gave LeBron a bili’ not to run away.” To that statement, the Cleveland Cavalier said no matter the outcome, he’s always going to side with the multi-billion dollar entity. “It’s just, it’s family when you talk about Nike, and I’m always on their side no matter what the situation is.”
Now given all the attention towards Ye’s song, the Windy City native took to Twitter to clear the air on any speculation that he took a jab at James. “The media tried to make it seem like I was downplaying LeBron on my song FACTS which I would never do,” he wrote. “Lebron is fam bottom line.”
