It may be April Fool’s day but Kanye West doesn’t appear to be joking about his plans for The Life Of Pablo. Last night, the G.O.O.D Music CEO finally released his seventh studio album on all music streaming service and retailers like Apple Music and Spotify. The former Tidal exclusive album is also available for purchase on his website for $20.
Recently, West announced on Twitter that he’s been updating songs on TLOP by switching up a few lyrics and including some additional production. The creative mastermind plans to continue adding to the “living” album and release new versions of the LP in the coming months.
“In the months to come, Kanye will release new updates, new versions, and new iterations of the album. An innovative, continuous process, the album will be a living, evolving art project,” says the statement from Universal Music.
Although it seems like the album will never be complete, the updated version that was released last night didn’t come with any bonus tracks. However, the update is obvious in “Ultralight Beam,” with a new line from Chance The Rapper. There are new background vocals on a few songs and a slight change in production. Although the new version doesn’t include any bonus tracks, his new song “Saint Pablo” also surfaced last night, which may or may not be included in future revisions.
After making its impromptu debut at Yo Gotti’s Art of Hustle release party last month, the full version of “Saint Pablo” featuring British rapper Sampha from SBTRKT and samples from Jay Z’s “Where I’m From” also hit the ‘Net last night. We’ll see if the new song ends up on TLOP or his forthcoming album Turbo Grafx 16 coming this summer.
